December 17 Tour of Banjul city and urban areas (include various stops)
Day 4 December 18 Tour of Maksutu cultural forest, Abuko nature reserve
Day 5 & 6 December 19-20 African Experience safari trip
Day 7 December 21 Day at the beach
• Evening cultural entertainment

Day 8 December 22 Roots experience- visit to the Village of Juffure and surrounding slave sites
Day 9 & 10 December 23-24 Trip to Kenya (Dakar & Goree Island) for those who elects optional visit to Kenya.
• For those not going to Kenya: shopping, hair braiding, visit to African Art markets, and more
• Senegambian nightlife

Day 11 December 25 Day at the beach for the whole group
• Senegambian nightlife
Day 12 December 26 Seminar/Discussion session: Guest history professor from the University of Gambia.
Topic “The Africa-America connection: links between The Gambia/Kenya and blacks in the Diaspora”
• Farewell dinner
Day 13 December 27 Depart for the US
TRAVEL Preparations

Visa/Entry Requirements:

All tour participants must have valid passports. US citizens do need a visa to travel to The Gambia. However, a visa is not required for travel to Kenya by US citizens. Citizens of other countries, please contact us for details.

We will do a courtesy mail out of visa application forms to all of our tour participants. For additional visa enquiries for travel to The Gambia, please check with the Ghana embassy in Washington. Their full contact information is:

Health Requirements:

An international Certificate of Vaccination is no longer required for visitors to The Gambia coming from North America and Europe. However, anti-malaria pills or medicine is highly recommended, please consult with your physician. Visitors are also advised to take along insect repellant, sunburn, anti-fungal creams, and disinfectants.

Travel Insurance:

Tour participants are advised to take some or comprehensive insurance covering baggage, injury, death, illness, personal belongings, baggage damage/loss or delay.

Other Preparations:

Please pack lightly for the outward trip, so that you have room in your luggage to bring back souvenirs and other purchased items. Please remember to take the following items if possible: Extra batteries for your camera /camcorder, flash light, sunglasses, personal hygiene items, comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
